News : Quad Bikes tasked to help tow Land Rover off Southport Beach
The Southport Rescue Quad Bikes were tasked on Saturday (29/06/13) to assist the Sefton Rangers pull a stuck Land Rover off the beach at Southport.
The vehicle had become stuck about 1\2 mile west of Weld Road, Southport and with the tide coming in the Coastguard were concerned for the driver, and his family's safety.
The Southport Lifeboat crew were paged at 14:25 and the quad bikes arrived on scene at 14:40.
The Sefton Ranger's tractor had attempted to pull the Land Rover out of the tide but their strop had snapped due to the vehicle's rear wheels being stuck.
A second rope off the quad bikes was attached to the back of the Land Rover, and with the help of the Ranger's Tractor, the Lifeboat crew were able to pull the vehicle out of the water just as the water started to enter the cab.
The three occupants of the Land Rover were able to drive home safely.
Southport Coastguard rescue team and the Southport Lifeboat reserve launch vehicle were also in attendance.
Well done to all involved.
