Following many weeks of effort from Sharon Gregory-Wareing the Community Life Champion at ASDA Southport, she was able to make the announcement that Southport Lifeboat had secured a grant from the ASDA Foundation Charity.
The funds will go towards purchasing new operational kit for the crew.
Southport Lifeboat, an independent rescue charity does not receive any funding from the RNLI, the Lottery or from government; we rely solely on donations from the general public, commercial organisations and trust funds.
They are currently engaged in a fundraising effort to raise sufficient money to enable a new lifeboat station to be built closer to the beach entrance. This will provide not only faster reaction times but hot running water, toilets and heating, something that is currently unavailable at their present 130 year old location on the Esplanade.
